BEC CoreRelate® is a Microsoft SQL Server Framework designed to provide an enterprise practice management solution. The solution consists of a centralized database (i.e., CoreRelate) and integrated modules to address document automation, legal calendaring and matter and contact management.
The CoreRelate framework requires Microsoft Exchange (on prem or hosted) as well as several Windows services including Microsoft Exchange Web Services (EWS), …
The CoreRelate suite is compatible with all recent versions of Office, including O365 with Hosted or Hybrid Exchange. We maintain versions for Windows 32-bit/64-bit and Office 32-bit/64-bit.
CoreRelate Framework requires a MS Windows Server and MS SQL Server platform. For more detail, download our System Requirements document.
The CoreRelate applications are tightly integrated with Microsoft Office, including direct synchronization of appointments, tasks and contacts to Outlook, and the ability to pull matter and contact information into Word. We believe the integration with Office, which is indispensable and ubiquitous in a law firm, improves the rate of user acceptance when our software is implemented.
The applications are integrated with these Document Management systems: iManage, Worldox, Open Text, NetDocuments.
Information from your billing system, or other sources, can be imported on a scheduled basis, provided that the systems are able to export to a delimited file.
The applications are installed via a single desktop installation wizard where you select the applications and integrations to be installed. They can be deployed through Group Policy or similar tools.
BEC Legal Systems’ project management staff offers comprehensive assistance with planning, installation, configuration, installation, deployment, and user training. We understand that every project has its own unique set of requirements and details and we will be as flexible as possible to ensure the success of your project. Our professional staff has extensive experience working with law firms. We also offer comprehensive administrative training classes twice per year at our facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Implementations often require import of a firm’s legacy data. Importers are provided with the CoreRelate Framework to accommodate any application that can export data to a delimited file.
We post updated software on a monthly basis for bug fixes and functional enhancements that do not change the user interface. Installation packages can be downloaded from our client portal and are always accompanied by detailed release notes.
We maintain a complete set of guides regarding technical aspects of our products, as well as configuration, installation, and upgrade. PDF’s are available from the client portal, or by request.
The suite includes online help, which is available from the applications themselves and also from the client portal.
Finally, the client portal includes a searchable knowledge base of technical information for learning and troubleshooting.
All database updates are tracked by the Audit feature. This is a very important element of your firm’s risk management, especially in the area of litigation docketing.
Application errors are sent to Windows Event logs. In the case of Outlook synchronization, errors can also be logged in the database itself. This provides convenient access through the UI for application specialists (not necessarily IT professionals) who need the information regularly.
CoreRelate Framework uses Windows Integrated Security via Active Directory global security groups. User data can be imported from Active Directory. The desktop applications use a Client/Server architecture. For details, download our Security Overview document.
Plans for 2018 include mobile and cloud applications that use our REST API for access to CoreRelate data. The mobile applications are secured using OAuth2 authentication standards to access our Web API.
