BEC Legal Systems

Learn about the configuration and administration of BEC MatterLink and BEC Docket Enterprise and how to put these applications to work for your firm.  (As part of the CoreRelate Framework, MatterLink and Docket Enterprise share a database, security, and other features.)

Topics to be covered

CoreRelate Integrated Solutions: Find out what’s new in CoreRelate 4, learn how the CoreRelate applications work together, and gain an understanding of application security.

CoreRelate Configuration: Learn how to take the “off the shelf” applications and configure them to meet the specific needs of your firm. This includes product-specific functions, all of the look-up lists in the UI, and setting firm holidays. Also learn to use the Data Import utility, including the expanded list of “what can be imported” in 4.x.

MatterLink: Discover how to get the most out of MatterLink at your firm! Understand matter customization, ongoing import from your billing system, and using courts with matters. Also learn about using CoreRelate contacts for a related parties database and how to expand contacts and matters through the use of custom fields.

Docket Enterprise: Understand the 4.x automated workflows and the introduction of Meeting Organizer and its impact on your upgrade to 4. Discuss how to plan and create your firm’s workgroups/shared calendars and develop scheduling templates. Understand the difference between MatterLink/Docket court formulas and CalendarRules.com (third party solution) integration. Brush up on scheduling with both Docket Enterprise tools (Schedule Express and Schedule Wizard) and practice creating reports with the Schedule Viewer grids and other built-in reporting capabilities.

Administrative Features: Review the tools you rely on as system administrator to handle licensing, personnel changes, audit, logging and troubleshooting. Understand the CoreRelate Services and their impact.

Friday, 8th: 9:00 - 1:00 Document Production laboratory day (Bonus, no charge)

The Tuesday-Thursday class agenda assumes end user proficiency with Microsoft Word and BEC LegalBar.  If you need a brush up, please come one day early and spend Monday afternoon with us at no charge! Friday is a free lab day for practical application of the skills learned.

Template Development: Understand LegalBar correspondence templates, including use of author preferences, stationery switching, subject line automation, and variable data set-up with and without integration to MatterLink. Also learn how to administer the Template Organizer.

Document Analysis: Discover how to analyze a document and separate its components for automated assembly; also learn how to create and maintain Assemble-It clause libraries and question/answer scripts.

Formatting to the Max: Learn about LegalBar’s advanced formatting utilities for establishing firm default theme and styles sets and understand LegalBar’s document cleaning options.
