Assemble-It 4.2 New Document Automations
November 15, 2020 by Jan Spetz
In Assemble-It 4.2, your firm’s clause libraries can be “tagged” with connections to macros and Word bookmarks, both of which provide new types of document assembly automation.
Clause Custom Actions
An Assemble-It clause can also be linked to a custom action macro to be automatically run whenever the clause is inserted in a document. If a pleading heading, for example, requires a specific font size or other formatting, that requirement can be automated in the clause and accomplished as the clause is inserted.
Clauses by Bookmark
An Assemble-It clause can now be associated with a Word Bookmark name. This provides a new way to organize your standard content, by adding the same bookmark name to clauses of like content. You might group all pleading captions together, all signature blocks together, etc.
When you have clause-associated bookmarks in a Word document, Assemble-It shows your clause choices “by bookmark” and lets you insert the most appropriate content in a “by bookmark” guided process.
Multiple Clause Libraries
An important benefit of this feature is that a document can pull content from multiple clause libraries. (There is no need to tie a template to one specific clause library and no need to duplicate commonly used clauses in several templates.)
Automatic Refresh
The Clauses by Bookmark feature also provides the ability to refresh document content. In an existing document that contains bookmarked clauses, you can point and click in any given area of the document and return to the original clause stored in the database. You can pull in fresh content, or even update to a different clause tagged with the same bookmark.
