New module delivers rich contact and organization management, matter notes, and custom fields configurable to each practice group’s specific workflow.

Matter Management

[Cincinnati, Ohio] – August 18, 2026 – BEC Legal Systems today announced the release of its matter management module for CoreRelate. This release provides a set of “just right” case management features designed to meet the needs of midsized and large law firms, without providing duplicate features such as DMS and accounting that most firms already have.

The new CoreRelate matter management features provide rich contact and organization management, including matter related parties, support for multiple organizations per contact, and interpersonal relationship tracking; support for matter and case notes; DMS integration, enabling a view of iManage or NetDocuments matter workspaces from CoreRelate matter pages; and contact integration with scheduling tools.

Using BEC’s enhanced custom fields capabilities, contacts and organizations can be referenced in practice-specific forms and screen layouts. Also, BEC’s API-first architecture ensures that all information within CoreRelate can be easily and safely accessed or updated from other systems.

“In today’s data-focused world, it’s more important than ever to build and maintain a central source of validated, consistent matter information that supports the individual needs of each practice”, said Roger Bonine, VP of Technology, BEC Legal Systems. “With CoreRelate matter management, we are providing a flexible, powerful, extensible data repository that can be leveraged by internal AI, innovation, and process improvement projects as an essential data source, while providing a friendly, clean interface for attorneys and staff who are entering and managing matter information”.

The matter management module is available now for current CoreRelate clients. Later in Q3, the CoreRelate MCP Server, which provides natural-language interaction with CoreRelate from LLM tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Legora, Harvey, or Copilot, will be extended with support for matter management features.

CoreRelate Cloud is the next-generation successor to BEC’s legacy Docket Enterprise and MatterLink products. It offers a clean, modern UI, an API-first architecture, and an MCP server for integration with firm-standard AI platforms.
